What joining gives you

A professional home, not a spare room

The five perks of joining

What makes Sutherland House different

Not a room with a door. A reputation, a network, a system, a studio, and a direction.

Perk 1 — The Reputation Asset

Your credibility, borrowed from nearly five decades of trust.

When patients look up a therapist, the first thing they find is the clinic. At Sutherland House that means a 5-star Google rating across 126 reviews and a name that has stood in Temple Fortune since 1978.

  • An established clinic address converts hesitant patients faster than a solo listing.
  • Shared reputation lowers your cost of acquiring a new patient.
  • A 5-star Google profile does trust-building work you would otherwise pay for.
  • Being "the physio at Sutherland House" opens doors that "a physio near you" does not.
You start with a reputation most practitioners spend a decade building.

Perk 2 — The Multidisciplinary Referral Engine

A network of 17 practitioners who can refer to you where clinically suitable.

Most self-employed therapists' biggest bottleneck is not skill. It is a steady, trusted flow of the right patients. Inside a multidisciplinary clinic, practitioners can refer to one another where clinically suitable — a physio's sports patient may become your massage patient; a naturopath's gut-health client may become your acupuncture patient.

  • Cross-discipline referrals are possible between practitioners who already know and trust each other.
  • A practitioner with a full book may refer onward to the room down the corridor.
  • Complex cases can be routed between specialists under one roof.
  • Being visible to 16 other practitioners is more effective than cold-marketing to strangers.
Referrals can happen through everyday conversations in the clinic, not only through campaigns you run.

Perk 3 — The Full Practice Ecosystem

Reception, booking, payments, listing, admin — all running before you arrive.

The thing that exhausts most therapists is not treating patients. It is everything around it: answering the phone, booking people in, taking payment, chasing no-shows, keeping the website current.

  • A reception team frees your clinical hours for clinical work.
  • The PPS booking system manages your diary without software to buy.
  • Card payments through the clinic reach you without your own merchant account.
  • A listing on sutherlandhouse.life keeps you findable without maintaining a site.
For £32 an hour you get a back office that would cost more than that to build yourself.

Perk 4 — The Group Studio

A second space for classes, not just one-to-one rooms.

Five treatment rooms are for one-to-one work. By arrangement, the studio is where you can run group sessions of up to six, from Pilates to children's strengthening to specialist rehabilitation groups.

  • A studio lets you add group revenue alongside one-to-one work.
  • Classes build patient loyalty and recurring income that one-off sessions do not.
  • A shared studio spreads the cost of space you could not justify alone.
  • Group work raises your profile in the local community faster than private sessions.
A room to treat in, and a studio to grow in, when you need it.

Perk 5 — A Self-Pay Wellness Community on the Rise

Join a clinic repositioning toward longevity, infusions, and self-pay demand.

Sutherland House is moving from "rooms to rent" toward a wellness community built around longevity, specialist adhesion and chronic-condition work, and growing self-pay demand. Joining now means growing with that direction, not catching up to it.

  • The self-pay shift matters for practitioners tired of low insurance rates.
  • A community retains patients and practitioners better than a building of strangers.
  • New service lines create referral pathways into your work.
  • Being early to a repositioning clinic compounds your reputation as it grows.
Be part of a clinic with a direction, not just a room with a door.
How it works

The old way vs the Sutherland House way

The old way

Renting a bare room in a business centre, a converted flat, or working from a spare room at home. You handle the phone, the bookings, the card machine, the website, the marketing, and the loneliness. Patients are hard to find because there is no reputation behind your name and no one to refer to you. Insurance work fills the diary but pays poorly and grinds you down.

The Sutherland House way

You rent a room inside a clinic that already has an established patient environment, the systems, the reception, and the reputation. You plug your clinical skill into an ecosystem already running.

  • More clinical hours, because the back office is not yours to run.
  • Access to an established patient environment, through 16 other practitioners and a 5-star website.
  • A professional community, not isolation.
  • A path toward self-pay work, in a clinic building self-pay demand.
How this helps you

Three problems, solved

📞

"Admin is eating my clinical time."

The full practice ecosystem returns your hours to treating patients. You stop being a part-time receptionist, bookkeeper, and webmaster.

👤

"I want more patients but I can't market myself."

The referral network and website listing can bring patients to you through reputation and cross-referral, without paid ads.

🧍

"I feel isolated working on my own."

Joining a 17-practitioner community gives you colleagues to consult, refer to, and grow alongside.

Does this work for my situation?

This works whether you are...

Newly qualified and building your first private patient base.
Experienced, relocating to North London, and wanting to keep treating, not start a business.
Stepping back from low-paying insurance work toward self-pay.
Returning from a career break and wanting a ready-made patient environment.
Established and outgrowing a home clinic or a single rented room.
A specialist (women's health, pelvic pain, sports, acupuncture) seeking cross-referrals into complex cases.
The root cause most solo practitioners struggle with is isolation: no patients, no systems, no community. Sutherland House exists to remove all three at once.
Your risk reversal

The 12-week trial

Low commitment · Short trial period

Join on a 12-week trial. Rent from 8 hours a month at £32 an hour. Treat your patients, use the reception, join the multidisciplinary network, and see whether the fit is right, for you and for the clinic.

At the end of the 12-week trial, both you and the clinic can decide whether to continue by arrangement. There is no obligation to continue on either side. If you do, you continue by arrangement and grow from there.

The only thing you commit is 12 weeks and the minimum hours. The thing you stand to gain is a practice with nearly five decades of reputation behind it.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this a job?

No. This is room rental. You are fully self-employed, you keep your own patients, set your own hours, and run your own practice. Sutherland House provides the space, the systems, and the ecosystem.

How much does it cost?

£32 per hour, with a minimum of 8 hours per month (from £256/month). There is a 12-week trial period, after which you continue by arrangement. Rent scales with the room hours you use.

What's included in the £32/hour?

A treatment room, front-of-house reception, the PPS booking system, card payment processing through the clinic machine, a listing on sutherlandhouse.life, and access to the multidisciplinary network. Access to the group studio is by arrangement.

Do I keep my own patients?

Yes. Your patients are your patients. The clinic provides the room, the systems, and the environment; you retain your practice and your patient relationships.

Which disciplines are you looking for?

We are welcoming physiotherapists, osteopaths, massage and bodywork therapists, and acupuncturists (traditional Chinese medicine). We look for practitioners whose work complements the existing team rather than directly duplicating core services.

Do I need to be registered and insured?

Yes. You must hold current professional registration appropriate to your discipline and valid professional indemnity insurance. The clinic confirms these as part of joining.

I'm used to insurance work. Can I build self-pay here?

That is exactly the direction the clinic is moving: a wellness community building self-pay demand around longevity and specialist work. If you want to transition from low-paying insurance sessions toward self-pay, this is a supportive environment to do it in.

How do I apply?
